The Apple iPhone Air (introduced alongside the iPhone 17 series in September 2025) is a brand-new category for Apple, prioritised for users who value an ultra-slim, lightweight design over the multi-camera systems of the Pro models.
It is officially the thinnest iPhone ever made at just 5.6mm, replacing the “Plus” slot in the lineup with a focus on high-end portability and “Pro” level processing power.
The iPhone Air is defined by its breakthrough aesthetic. By moving to a single-lens 48MP system, Apple was able to slim the chassis down to 5.6mm while still including the A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM. While it lacks the telephoto and ultra-wide lenses of the 17 Pro, it includes the Action Button and the new Camera Control capacitive button. It is the ideal choice for those who want a large-screen iPhone (6.5″) that is significantly lighter (165g) and more pocketable than the 17 Pro Max.
